Manny Ramirez's 1994 911 Porsche Turbo 3.6
Call it the non-eBay Find of the Day: 1994 Porsche 911 (964) Turbo 3.6. 34,569 miles. Red/grey. One owner: Slugger Manny Ramirez of the Los Angeles Dodgers. While the automobile itself is the run-of-the-mill 964 Turbo - its 3.6-liter flat-six putting out 360 horsepower - that sold Turbo was between the rarest of the Porsche Turbo models. These sold air-cooled 911 Turbos were only constructed from 1993-1994 with about 1,500 rolling off the line prior to the company switched over to the newer 993 platform.

Celebrity ownership doesn't regularly pierce one more bucks in the sale, though we're hoping it does in this case. You see, Manny has donated the automobile to the Dodgers, who are auctioning it off starting July 2, 2010 to raise money for the team's own ThinkCure! gift as well as for Maryvale, the residential chain home for girls.

The book value upon Manny's Porsche is $58,000, though the Dodgers hope to raise the lot more than for the charities that stand to good from the sale. So, puncture deep as well as get the pierce on! The Manny Ramirez Porsche auction ends Monday, July 12 at 11:00 AM Pacific. You can read one more sum in the press recover after the jump.

This is what the first-ever Porsche 911 Turbo looks like today

Some people attending the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance final weekend walked past this Porsche 911 Turbo, giving it nary the glance. After all, it was tucked the little out of the way, as well as even with the tweaked bodywork as well as decals, if you've seen one 911 Turbo, you've seen them all, right? Well, no. Anyone who paused prolonged enough to read the info label owners Murray Smith placed front of the automobile learned that, in fact, this Turbo is more special than others. You see, it was the antecedent - the initial factory-turbocharged Porsche 911 highway car, period.

As the story goes, it began life as the regular '73 911S company automobile driven by Porsche arch engineer Helmuth Bott. From there, it won the Porsche genetics lottery when it was sucked into the automaker's initial module to serve as the basement for the Turbo. As such, it became the initial roadgoing Porsche 911 to get the turbo engine, along with the now-famous widebody diagnosis as well as whaletail.

Once the developmental role was complete, it became the 911 Turbo arrangement automobile for the Paris, Frankfurt, as well as Tokyo motor shows, though the story doesn't end there. Following the successive factory RSR conversion, this 911 Turbo was raced by Aussie Porsche importer Alan Hamilton during the mid-1970s. The icing upon the baked sweat bread for us came at the day's conclusion, when we got to hear the automobile glow up as well as get in line for the way past the podium. It sounded similar to God upon speakerphone. For the 911 with this provenance, that seemed entirely appropriate.

Porsche Boxster and Cayman Review

Porsche unveiled the facelifted Porsche Boxster roadster and the facelifted Porsche Cayman coupe at the 2008 Los Angeles International Auto Show. The duo now offers the PDK dual clutch transmission replacing the outgoing Tiptronic S slushbox, and the Boxster S and Cayman S now has direct fuel injection on its 3.4 liter engines.

Other than a folding soft top on the Boxster and a coupe roof on the Cayman, the two cars also have some differences in design such as the extra diffuser inserts on the Boxster and the wind deflector plate on the Cayman. On the front end, each have their own front bumper design. Even the front signal lamps are configured differently. While both use LED signal lamps, the Cayman’s LEDs are arranged in a square like the face of dice while the Boxster gets a horizontal row of 4 LEDs.

The base engine in the Boxster and Cayman is the 2.9 liter boxer engine, producing 255hp in the Boxster and 265hp in the Cayman. This mean other than being a roadster and coupe version of the same car, the coupe is now more powerful than the roadster across the range as even in the S versions, the direct fuel injected 3.4 liter engine in the Cayman makes 320hp, a 10hp advantage over the 3.4 liter unit in the Boxster S which makes 310hp.

The new cars are more fuel efficient than the pre-facelift versions. The 2.9 liter version does 8.9 liters per 100km according to the EU4 standard, which is 11% less than the outgoing Tiptronic S model.
